100 Princes Street - Edinburgh, Scotland

High above Scotland's compact, hilly capital of Edinburgh, perched atop Castle Rock, sits 900-year-old Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Edinburgh Castle is one of the UK’s top attractions with more than 2 million visitors each year. Dating back to 1103 AD, it looms over the city’s medieval Old Town and the gardens and neoclassical buildings of its elegant Georgian New Town.

Far below in the center of Edinburgh’s most famous boulevard, looking directly up at the castle and with a rich history of its own is 100 Princes Street. A prime location for hospitality dating back over 150 years, in the 19th century it was Dejay’s Hotel, then later Windsor Hotel, before becoming The Royal Over-Seas League in 1929. In 2019, Red Carnation Hotels purchased the property and soon it begins its newest journey as one of Edinburgh’s finest boutique hotels. 

Scheduled to open in November, 2022, Red Carnation is lovingly restoring 100 Princes Street, just as it did with several of its other 18 hotels including 800-year-old Ashford Castle and London’s acclaimed Hotel 41. With 30 individually appointed guest rooms and suites, many overlooking stately Edinburgh Castle, as well as a 2:1 staff ratio, 100 Princess Street will be transformed into an exclusive retreat focused on service with an “anything, anytime” approach. A resident-only “Explorers’ Club” will offer culturally inspired signature dishes, a collection of acclaimed Scottish whiskies, a wine wall with over 200 fine wines, and magnificent unobstructed views of the Castle.

Another historic renovation will open in 2023 in the heart of Rome’s Campo Marzio neighborhood. Bulgari Hotel Roma will occupy a magnificent 1930’s modernist building that faces two of Rome’s most iconic landmarks: the Ara Pacis; and the Mausoleum of Augustus, the first Roman Emperor.

The original building will be transformed into a magnificent modern monument, becoming a temple of Bulgari style.
